“Integrity is telling myself the truth” - Spencer Johnson
A few days ago, I posted a big ole exciting post about my bright & shiny paid subscription plan! Yay! Check out the perks!
Respectfully, I retract. I apologize for the confusion, truly; this was a failure to be honest with myself in the first place, and I could have saved us all a post. I will always tell you when I am wrong, or when I change my mind, and why. In this particular case:
I don’t want to charge for my content.
A part of me understands you gotta try making money somehow; paid subscribers help you do faster and better work, let alone pay your bills… but another part of me feels actual homicidal thoughts towards the concept of “subscriptions” at this point (a subscription for The Weather Channel? For a printer? For an exercise bike? I’m starting to lose it). There’s also the fact that I write political content, and the moment is just too important; it’s happening too fast and independent media is more important than ever. My media literacy skills are solid, I can help spread solid information, and I want to help more than I want to make money. Ah! That’s it.
I want to help more than I want to make money.
Anyway, I have a grand total of TWO paid subscribers right now 😊 I’ve messaged one, and I think she’ll be okay with it; the other already gave her blessing. Lin and Rachel; you are incredible. You believed in me first.
For everyone else, please know that my work will be public and free forever. Paid subscribers will have a private chat so they can reach me directly, but other than that, I will not paywall my content. It’s not me.
