So… I’ve been building :)

Self-confidence is not my strong suit.
I convinced myself it was a happy accident the first time I went viral… but after the fifth or sixth or tenth time, I should have started giving myself a bit of faith. When I left TikTok, I was convinced that I’d never build a community like that again; yet within months of starting this Substack, thousands of you are here.
Marianne Williamson once said “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do…”
I was watching Coach Carter at my best friend’s house the first time I heard that quote; Google says that was 2005, so it would have been 8th grade… but today, I finally understand it.
To any and all who read anything I write, know this: I promise to speak the truth, as I understand and see it. I promise to show you my sources every damn time. I promise to be honest about what I don’t know.
Self-confidence is not my strong suit …and yet, all kinds of things are changing. Maybe it’s the thousands of you who have gathered already, or the active fall of democracy, or maybe I’m just ready; all I know is, I intend to keep speaking, and loudly.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for being here.
