Arbella Rodriguez Marquez is a legal resident who has lived here for 25 years. Her friends call her Yari. She's had a green card for two years, and she has no criminal history. Her best friend says she's never had a traffic ticket.
I wrote about Yari back in April to make a written record of just some of the people whose rights have been violated by the masked douchebags. At the time, I felt like it was deeply unjust because two months of detention would cause the loss of one's job, getting evicted...
But here's the thing: that was FIVE MONTHS AGO, she's still not out, and now, she's *actually* in mortal danger. See, Yari has Leukemia and they haven't let her see a specialist. She hasn't gotten the care she needs, and there's no answer on when or if she will be let out.
In July, it was reported she had lost 55 pounds since being detained, and had bruises on her body.
Two days ago, U.S. Representative Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) reported Yari is coughing up blood, can barely walk, and has bruises all over her body.
She's been told that detainees can't drink the water because of the chlorine, they're given used underwear so they're getting UTI's, they report racist and dehumanizing language... And I can't stress this enough, Yari is here legally.
In the last month, two people in Arizona have died in ICE custody... All paid for by American tax dollars.
Call your representatives, especially if they're Republicans, and tell them that if All Lives really do matter, now would be a great time to prove it.
